I have committed some changes to rosgui which should make it work without DBus and/or XEmbed*.
It should just disable the according features if these dependencies are not met.
@William: could you give it a try with OS X (preferably without DBus being available) in order to confirm that it really works?
I could only try it with renaming the imports since uninstalling DBus is not really an option in Ubuntu...
